Co-written by Thom Schuyler, Keith Stegall and Stewart Harris, "Hurricane" was a Top 10 hit for country artist Levon Everette in 1981, with the song initially being recorded by Leon and featured on his 1980 album American Son. In 2011, Texas rock four-piece The Band of Heathens unleashed their blistering version of the song which tells the tale of an old man from New Orleans French Quarter who appears cool, calm and collected in the face of an incoming hurricane. "I was born in the rain / On the Pontchartrain / Underneath the Louisiana moon / I don't mind the strain / Of a hurricane / They come around every June," sing the Band of Heathens in the chorus. Their country-rock version of the Louisiana sonic fable was the tenth track off of the band's 2011 album Top Hat Crown & The Clapmaster’s Son and made it to Number 18 on the Hot Rock Songs chart in 2018.
