Written by band member Glenn Frey and solo artist Jackson Browne, it was released as the first single from their debut album Eagles. Browne had been working on the song for his own debut album but was having trouble finishing it. The two singer-songwriters, who lived in the same California apartment building, began talking about the song and Browne sang what he had so far "Well, I'm a-standin' on a corner in Winslow, Arizona...", and as if right on cue Frey added "Such a fine sight to see. It's a girl, my lord, in a flatbed Ford, slowin' down to take a look at me.” “Take It Easy” became one of the Eagles most popular songs. In 2017 a life-sized statue of Frey was added to the Standin’ on the Corner Park in Winslow, Arizona to honor the artist and his classic song.
