Written by Jackson Browne and Eagles band member Glenn Frey, who provides lead vocals on the track, this freewheeling, banjo-enhanced classic from the Eagles saw the US rock heavyweights tune into the kind of comforting, twangy country-rock frequency that defined so much of their other work, taking the form of hits like 1975's "Lyin' Eyes." "Take It Easy" was in fact the band's first-ever single, released in May 1972 and hitting Number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The track opened the band's debut self-titled album and was also covered by country artist Travis Tritt, who recorded his version for the Eagles tribute album Common Thread: The Songs of the Eagles, which featured country music artists who had been inspired by the Eagles' music. The epoch-shaping song, which is captured in this live version, has been listed as one of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.

My favourite all time track. A local pirate radio station in New Zealand started playing this song three months before the LP was released. The poor lady in the record shop had to put up with me for all that time until it was released. I love the Beatles, but for me this was the greatest group ever. Only saw them once, I think in 1975 just after Joe Walsh joined the band
