"Landslide" is a song from British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac's 1975 self-titled album. The track was written by singer Stevie Nicks in 1973 during a trip to Aspen, Colorado. After the commercial failure of her first LP with Lindsey Buckingham as the short-lived duo Buckingham Nicks, she was seriously considering going back to college and abandoning her music career. This feeling of uncertainty served as inspiration for the gentle folk-rock tune "Landslide," which used the concept of a snow avalanche as a metaphor for the unpredictability of life. Only a year later, Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham were invited to join Fleetwood Mac and played a big part in the band's commercial breakthrough on their 1975 eponymous LP. Even though it wasn't released as a single back then, a live version of "Landslide" reached Number 51 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart after being included in the live reunion album, The Dance (1998).
