Stretching out across a slow and sensual groove, Bootsy's Rubber Band's "I'd Rather Be with You" was famously repurposed by Adina Howard for her '90s megahit "Freak Like Me," and introduced to a whole new generation of music fans. This funk marvel was also sampled by Eazy-E of N.W.A. fame on his 1991 song "I'd Rather Fuck You," by the late Tupac in 1996 as well as Childish Gambino, Beyoncé, and Questionmark Asylum. But nothing quite beats the original. "I'd Rather Be with You" was featured on the 1976 album Stretchin' Out in Bootsy's Rubber Band, by Bootsy's Rubber Band, a splinter group from the George Clinton-headed Parliament-Funkadelic led by bassist and vocalist William "Bootsy" Collins. The album was produced by Bootsy Collins and George Clinton, with the former writing all of the album's seven songs (two with Clinton, one with vocalist Leslyn Bailey and four with Clinton and other band members).
