The rhythm and blues classic "Mustang Sally" was written and recorded by American songwriter Bonny "Mack" Rice in 1965. It was inspired by a visit to singer Della Reese, who offered to buy her drummer Calvin Shields a new Lincoln Continental for his birthday. After Shields replied that he preferred getting a Ford Mustang instead, Mack Rice turned that conversation into a song about a woman who wants nothing more than to ride around in her new car all day. Originally dubbed "Mustang Mama," the song's title was changed after singer Aretha Franklin suggested renaming it "Mustang Sally," the female given name Mack Rice used during the chorus. Shortly after its commercial release, "Mustang Sally" reached Number 15 on the US R&B charts. The following year, the track was further popularized by American soul pioneer Wilson Pickett, whose remake climbed to Number 6 on the R&B singles chart and Number 23 on the Billboard Hot 100. Wilson Pickett's version was re-released in 1987, peaking at Number 62 on the Official UK Singles Chart.

Would like to hear updated drums and bass sound. This is very much like the original and doesn't cut through with today's tracks.
