The Rolling Stones rose to the height of their powers and made huge rock 'n' roll waves in the US with this career-defining megahit from 1965, "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction," featuring one of the best-known guitar riffs of the 20th century, thanks to Keith Richards (and his now-iconic Gibson fuzzbox). Written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards and produced by Andrew Loog Oldham, this bluesy meditation on sexual frustration and the pitfalls of capitalism was considered too controversial for mainstream UK radio but nonetheless topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart where stuck around for four weeks. It has been covered by various artists over the years, including Otis Redding for his album Otis Blue/Otis Redding Sings Soul, released in 1965 (and substituting horns for guitar in the opening riff as Keith Richards had originally anticipated), Britney Spears in 2000 and new wave heroes Devo, who reinterpreted the song in 1977. "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" was added to the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress in 2006.
