Tina Turner, who was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2021, began adding rock songs into her sets with infamous ex-husband Ike Turner after going on tour with the Rolling Stones first in the UK in 1966 and then in North America in November 1969. The soul duo were clearly built for rock 'n' roll and proved their mettle on this cover of "Come Together" by The Beatles, which became the lead single and title track from their 1970 LP, which was later reissued in 2010 on double CD as Come Together / Nuff Said. The audience had gone wild for their electrifying version of the Lennon-McCartney favorite and the opening track to the Beatles' 1969 album Abbey Road, and the pair wanted to capture the energy on record. Ike and Tina Turner decided to release a studio version of "Come Together" on Minit Records in December 1969 and it rose to Number 57 on the Billboard Hot 100 as well as Number 21 on the Billboard Soul Singles chart.
