"Zombie" is a song by the Irish alternative rock band The Cranberries. The song was released as the lead single from their second album No Need to Argue was written by the band's lead singer Dolores O'Riodan. O'Riodan was touring with her band when she learned that two children, Johnathan Ball, 3, and Tim Parry, 12, had died in bombs set off by the IRA in England. When she returned to her apartment, the lyrics just poured out of her. The song expresses her sadness and frustration with the continuing unrest in her country. "It's the same old theme / Since nineteen-sixteen". The Cranberries have described the song as a call for peace.
