"Wonderwall" is a song by the Britpop band Oasis from their groundbreaking album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?The song was written by Noel Gallagher and sung by his brother Liam. The verses of "Wonderwall" have a conversational lyrical flow followed by a huge guitar-driven chorus. "Because maybe / You're gonna be the one that saves me / And after all / You're my Wonderwall." In an early interview, Noel Gallagher said it was written about his then girlfriend, now ex-wife, Meg Mathews. More recently he said, "It’s a song about an imaginary friend who’s gonna come and save you from yourself.” Oasis was heavily influenced by The Beatles. The song's title was inspired by George Harrison's 1968 instrumental solo album Wonderwall Music. The cello sounding instrument is actually a Mellotron, an early synthesizer used on The Beatles' song "Strawberry Fields Forever".
