The Beatles' 1969 bluesy jam "Get Back" was thrust back into the spotlight in 2021 thanks to Peter Jackson's acclaimed documentary series The Beatles: Get Back, which covers the making of the Beatles' 1970 album Let It Be (which had the working title of Get Back). Written by Paul McCartney(although it's credited to Lennon/McCartney), and originally released as a single on April 11, 1969, "Get Back" is ostensibly a protest song that begins with a depiction of a man named Jojo ("Jojo was a man who thought he was a loner / But he knew it couldn't last / Jojo left his home in Tucson, Arizona / For some California grass") and becomes a pro-immigration satire parodying Enoch Powell's highly racist "rivers of blood" speech ("Get back, get back / Back to where you once belonged / Get back, get back / Back to where you once belonged / Get back, Jo"), although the song's meaning has been considered famously ambiguous and confusing.
