The fourth cut on The Beatles' seminal 1969 album Abbey Road, "Oh! Darling" was written by Paul McCartney and finds the legendary artist begging his lover to stay. "Oh! Darling, if you leave me / I'll never make it alone / Believe me when I beg you (Woo!) / Don't ever leave me alone," he implores. According to legend, Paul McCartney found the song's vocals such a strain that he practised in the studio every day for a week until he cracked them. "Oh! Darling"—which went to number 15 on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1969, takes its cues from Louisiana rhythm and blues and includes a doo-wop harmony from the rest of the group—was performed by The Beatles in the 1970 documentary movie Let It Be and later re-imagined as a duet for the first time by Paul McCartney with Chrissie Hynde who sang it together at the Wembley Stadium Taylor Hawkins memorial concert for the late Foo Fighters drummer on September 3, 2022.
