You can't get much more Christmassy than Nat King Cole powerfully tearing through "O Holy Night." "O holy night, the stars are brightly shining / It is the night of the dear Savior's birth / Long lay the world in sin and error pining / 'Til He appeared and the soul felt its worth," he begins, his voice trembling with emotion. It feels more than apt that the song should be included on an album called The Magic of Christmas – the late US legend's 1960 Christmas LP which was the best-selling Christmas album of the decade, filled with festive favorites and traditional treasures like "Deck the Halls," "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen," "O, Little Town of Bethlehem" and "O Holy Night," (also known as "Cantique de Noël"). The latter is a timeless Christmas carol meditating on the birth of Jesus as humanity's redemption and is often used to herald the start of Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve.
