Written by lyricist Sammy Cahn and composer Jule Styne during a heatwave in sunny California in July of 1945, it was first recorded by big band leader Vaughn Monroe, and his version snatched top spot on the Billboard Best Sellers music chart that year. In fact, the song became so popular that Frank Sinatra covered it in 1950, reaching Number 45 on Billboard's US Holiday 100 chart and Number 56 on the Official UK Singles Chart. Nine years later, fellow Rat Pack member Dean Martin included "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!" in his album A Winter Romance. A re-recorded version can also be heard in his 1966 long-player The Dean Martin Christmas Album. In 2018, Dean Martin's version entered the Billboard Hot 100 at Number 8, almost 73 years since its inception.
