Riotous pop princess Jax turned a classic fairytale on its head for this modern feminist retelling of Cinderella. In "Cinderella Snapped," the New York-born artist sings about an unfaithful prince and an uncompromising princess who refuses to back down. “Once upon a time there was a princess / Waiting for a boy to give back her shoe," she begins, before shifting the tone in the chorus and calling out misogynism in wider society: "I don't need no prince to save me / I'm a goddamn CEO / Don't call me "Baby", equal pay me / Snow Whitе said you tried to kiss her / So I'll just buy a new glass slipper/ and burn your castle down/ and kids, that's how/ Cinderella snapped." Released in 2023, "Cinderella Snapped" followed in the glass-slippered footsteps of Jax's viral hit "Victoria's Secret", which first aired on TikTok before going on to chart in multiple countries including Australia, the UK and the US.
