Instantly recognisable for its iconic glimmering synthwork, "Everywhere" is undoubtedly one of Fleetwood Mac's biggest songs, and the only one on their fourteenth studio album, 1987's Tango in the Night, to be credited solely to keyboardist Christine McVie (who also took up the post of lead vocalist on the track). The album also made use of the future-facing digital sampler, the Fairlight CMI synthesizer, steered by Lindsey Buckingham. "Everywhere" – which taps into that universal feeling of falling in love – clocked in at number 14 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and topped the Adult Contemporary chart as well as going to number four in the UK. Tango in the Night was something of a last hurrah for the world-famous band, closing the curtain on Fleetwood Mac's classic lineup of Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood, Christine McVie, John McVie, and Stevie Nicks, with Lindsey Buckingham leaving the band later in 1987.
