Dolly Parton is a singer who writes many of her songs from her own life experiences. “I Will Always Love You” was written about her professional break up with Porter Wagoner and “Coat of Many Colors” was written about growing up in poverty in the hills of Tennessee. The inspiration for her song “Jolene” came about after meeting a young fan. As Dolly was signing the little girl’s autograph she learned her name was Jolene. The star immediately thought it was a beautiful name that would sound great in a song. A few years later Parton was annoyed at an attractive red-headed bank teller who was flirting with her husband, Carl Dean.
