9 to 5 - Dolly Parton - MP3 instrumental karaoke

Dolly Parton wrote the song “9 to 5” while she was making her acting debut in the film of the same name. When Jane Fonda approached the country singer about the role, Parton had one demand. She wanted to write the theme song. Both the song and the film deal with gender inequality in the workplace. Parton had very long acrylic nails and found that by rubbing her nails together, she could create a rhythm that sounded like a typewriter. She walked around the set playing her nails while coming up with the song’s lyric and melody. Those nails even made it to the recording, earning an official album credit of “Nails by Dolly.” Film critic Roger Ebert called Parton “a natural-born movie star.” The song won Grammys for Best Country Song and Best Country Vocal Performance.  The backing track for “9 to 5” is available with background vocals or as an instrumental on Karaoke Version.
