Bill Withers timeless soul wonder "Lean on Me" topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart in July 1972 while also making it to the top of the soul charts. Written and recorded by the US singer-songwriter, it was released as the first single from his second album, Still Bill, and was inspired by his childhood spent in the coal mining town of Slab Fork, West Virginia.
