Originally written by Mark James in 1968 and performed by the late B.J. Thomas, "Hooked on a Feeling" was given a new lease of life in 1974 by short-lived Sweden rock band Blue Swede, fronted by Björn Skifs, who enjoyed international chart success with their signature tune. For their version, which covered the 1971 arrangement from Jonathan King, the band dropped the sitar and added a dash of parody and personality to the mix, celebrating the dizzying high of being in love: "I'm hooked on a feeling / I'm high on believing / That you're in love with me." Blue Swede's reimagining of "Hooked On A Feeling" topped the US Billboard Hot 100 at the time of its release and appeared in various on-screen guises, including Quentin Tarantino’s hit 1992 crime thriller Reservoir Dogs and 2016's Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Remix Vol. 1 soundtrack, while it was also covered by Baywatch hunk David Hasselhoff in 1997.
