"Well, I woke up this mornin' it was drizzlin' rain / Around the curve come a passenger train / Heard somebody yodel and a hobo moan / Jimmy he's dead, he's been a long time gone / Been a long time gone, a long time gone," sings Waylon Jennings on "Waymore's Blues," his 1975 homage to being a (decidedly non-digital) nomad. Featured on the twenty-second studio by the outlaw country pioneer, Dreaming My Dreams, which was co-produced with Jack Clement and recorded at Glaser Sound Studio in Nashville, Tennessee, between February and July 1974, this pedal steel guitar-fueled freewheeler – which went on to be covered by artists including Ben Harper – was written by Waylon Jennings and Curtis Buck. The album was a hit for Waylon Jennings – with two singles going to Number one and Number 10 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs– as well winning him the Male Vocalist of the Year Country Music Association Award.
