Olivia Newton-John poured her charm and heavenyl singing voice into "Take Me Home, Country Roads," originally made famous by John Denver in 1971 and written by Bill Danoff, Taffy Nivert and John Denver. The song is an ode to the "Blue Ridge Mountains", "Shenandoah River" of West Virginia – becoming one of West Virginia’s official state anthems – which in the song is compared to a "miner's lady," on account of its connecting to coal mining: "All my memories gather 'round her / Miner's lady, stranger to blue water / Dark and dusty, painted on the sky / Misty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eye." In her jaunty 1973 version of the song, Olivia Newton-John stays faithful to the song's country-folk roots while adding rich vocal harmonies and perky handclaps. The song made it to the top of the charts in Japan, the UK and the US.

At first I gave this a bad rating because I was unaware that the Olivia Newton John version was so slow in the beginning. I cut that part off and really like the rest. It's very well done.
