You can't get any more disco than this dancefloor-conjuring firework from the Trammps. With its ubiquitous "Burn baby burn!" refrain, "Disco Inferno" is one of the first tunes you think of when the disco gods come calling. Coupled with expressive declarations ("The funk was flaming, out of control / It was so entertaining, when the boogie started to explode") and a heady disco beat, it's no wonder that "Disco Inferno" was inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame in 2005. However, the song wasn't an instant hit for the Philly soul and disco legends. Originally recorded and released as a single by the Trammps in 1976, it was only after the track wound up on the soundtrack for Saturday Night Fever that its fate was sealed at the top table of disco dazzlers. Thanks to the exposure it gained in the iconic Saturday Night Fever, "Disco Inferno" went to number 11 in the US during the spring of 1978, giving the Trammps' their signature tune.
