"We Are Family" is a song recorded by Sister Sledge for their 1979 album of the same name. The song was written by Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards from the R&B band Chic. Atlantic Records President Jerry L. Greenberg commissioned the pair to write for Sister Sledge who were a newly signed act to the label. Nile Rogers said after hearing Greenberg describe the four sisters, he just set the description to music. "Living life is fun and we've just begun / To get our share of this world's delights / High hopes we have for the future / And our goal's in sight". "We Are Family" became their signature song and reached #1 on the Billboard R&B chart.

Would be a solid track if it weren't for "Slappy No-Tone" on the bass! Bernard didn't play it like that, this track has no body or fullness and doesn't translate very well to live situations. -
