It took The Righteous Brothers a whopping 39 takes and around eight hours over a period of two days to get "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" just right, but the grueling, hard work paid off. This blue-eyed soul epic became one of popular music's biggest triumphs, praised for its embodiment of Phil Spector's Wall of Sound recording technique and in 2015, inducted into the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". Written Phil Spector, Barry Mann, and Cynthia Weil, the song was first recorded in 1964 by the American vocal pair the Righteous Brothers, whose timeless version was brought to life by iconic studio ensemble the Wrecking Crew and backing singers made up largely of vocal group The Blossoms, who were also joined in the song's crescendo by a young Cher. The song scooped up accolades across the board, including a nomination in the Best Rock and Roll Recording category at the 7th Annual Grammy Awards.
