Written by The Notorious B.I.G. and produced by Easy Mo Bee, "Gimme the Loot" is built around samples from James Brown's "Coldblooded" (1974), the Ohio Players' "Singing in the Morning" (1971), and Gang Starr's "Just to Get a Rep" (1990). Lyrically speaking, the track is a masterclass in cinematic storytelling, with Biggie Smalls trading verses with his younger self before committing a series of armed robberies. With time, "Gimme the Loot" achieved iconic status and was sampled over 51 times on different hip-hop songs, most notably on Travis Scott and Drake's "Sicko Mode" from the album Astroworld (2018).
