"The Rainbow Connection" is an iconic track from the 1979 film The Muppet Movie. It was written by Paul Williams and Kenneth Ascher, and performed by Jim Henson in the role of Kermit the Frog. Starting with a few banjo chords and Kermit's unmistakable voice, the song quickly incorporates a tight rhythm section and lavish string arrangements. "The Rainbow Connection" is a typical example of what in musical theatre and Disney films is called an "I Want" song—a musical piece in which the lead character expresses their dissatisfaction with the current state of things and desires to find a higher purpose. After performing the song, Kermit embarks on a cross-country trip to Hollywood to pursue a career in show business and fulfill his dream of "making millions of people happy." Upon its release, "The Rainbow Connection" reached number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was also nominated for Best Original Song at the 52nd Academy Awards and was deemed culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant by the Library of Congress in 2020.

Wonderful full orchestral sound. Exactly what I needed for my perfomance.

keyed this up one notch and it sounds more melodic, less campy. The Sarah McLaughlin version is really bad.

I looked all over for the banjo version and couldn't find it until now!
