Southern Californian upstarts Sublime kicked off a sun-drenched ska-punk revolution with their 1992 debut album, 40oz. to Freedom, which went on to become one of the highest-selling independently released albums of all time. Their second album, Robbin' the Hood, arrived in 1994, which featured a guest appearance from Gwen Stefani and lifted samples and riffs from various reggae tunes. The following year, they mixed things up with a cartoonish cover of the theme from "Hong Kong Phooey," a martial arts superhero and the star of the animated TV series of the same name voiced by Scatman Crothers. Produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions, the cartoon was originally broadcast on ABC in 1974. Sublime's interpretation was then included on the 1995 compilation Saturday Morning (Cartoons' Greatest Hits), which also featured a Ramones' take on the Spider-Man theme and Matthew Sweet doing "Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?".
