"Merry Xmas Everybody" is a festive rock song by the English glam rock band Slade. It was released on November 7, 1973, following the astonishing success of their previous chart-topping singles "Cum on Feel the Noize" and "Skweeze Me Pleeze Me." Written by lead singer Noddy Holder and bassist Jim Lea, and produced by Chas Chandler, "Merry Xmas Everybody" extended the group's winning streak, peaking at Number 1 on the UK Singles Chart and reaching the Top 10 in Ireland, Norway, Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands. "Merry Xmas Everybody" became Slade's sixth and final number-one single in the UK and remained in the British charts for nine consecutive weeks. In the years that followed, it became the band's best-selling single and was covered by a wide array of artists, including The Cure, the Spice Girls, Oasis, and R.E.M. In 2021, "Merry Xmas Everybody" was certified double Platinum by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI).
