After a legendary performance at the Woodstock 1969 festival and a handful of commercially successful albums in the early 1970s, Mexican-American guitar legend Carlos Santana returned to the top of the charts with his eighteenth album Supernatural in 1999. Featuring an eclectic assortment of collaborators that included Dave Matthews, Rob Thomas, Lauryn Hill, and Eric Clapton, Supernatural soared to the top of the Billboard 200 chart and stayed there for 12 weeks, becoming the best-selling album by a Hispanic artist in recent musical history. It was also massively popular in many Spanish-speaking countries, mainly thanks to the single "Corazón Espinado," a Latin-tinged rock number featuring Mexican band Maná that reached Number 22 on Billboard's US Latin Pop Airplay. Written by Maná frontman Fher Olvera, "Corazón Espinado" was also performed live at the 2000 Latin Grammys ceremony, in which the track won Record of the Year and Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group.
