After launching themselves onto the scene in 1980 and unleashing their power metal-shaped debut The Warning in 1984, Washington band Queensrÿche tore a leaf out of the prog metal playbook and plunged deeper into theatrics for their second album Rage for Order two years later. Waging a riff-fuelled battle of wits between the traditional heavy metal fare of titans like Iron Maiden and more headsy adventuring prog-rock à la Pink Floyd, Rage for Order highlight "I Will Remember" provides one of the album's more emotional turns, a chilly, wintery ballad that gleams with a silvery werewolf howl from singer Geoff Tate, who is considered among the best high-pitched singers in the metal game. Rage for Order explored prescient themes related to artificial intelligence and robots, so you'd be forgiven for thinking it was made in the 'roaring twenties', until you see the band's extremely '80s perms.
