“Crazy” is Patsy Cline’s biggest hit but she didn’t want to record it. The song was written by Willie Nelson who was then a struggling songwriter. Cline couldn’t see herself singing the song after hearing Nelson’s almost talk-singing version, but her producer Owen Bradley loved it and arranged the song as a lush ballad that suited her voice perfectly. The singer was still recovering from a recent car accident on the day of the recording and had trouble reaching the high notes due to broken ribs. A week later she was able to come back and sing it in one take.
