In 1965, Nina Simone cast a sonic spell over the world with her own, celebrated version of "I Put a Spell on You," which reached Number 23 on the US Billboard R&B chart that year, Number 49 on the UK singles chart, and also went to Number 28 when it was reissued in 1969. The richly orchestral song was featured on Nina Simone's 1965 album of the same name, which was released by Philips Records, and reached Number 99 on the Billboard 200 chart, as well as Number 9 on the UK Albums Chart. A number of other artists have worked their magic on "I Put a Spell on You" over the years, including Creedence Clearwater Revival – who made it to Number 58 on the US Hot 100 with their recreation of the song in 1968 – and Bryan Ferry, whose version appeared on his 1993 solo album, Taxi.
