"Scream" by Misfits packs an almighty punch. From its ominous instrumental intro to the actual screams and wolf howls that enliven the track, this total punk headbanger from the horror punk heroes comes with the ultimate badge of honour; a music video directed by late Living Dead film legend and zombie godfather, George A. Romero. You can't get much scarier than that. "Scream" – which was originally envisioned for Wes Craven's 1996 horror classic of the same name – was the only single to be released from the band's 1999 album Famous Monsters, which featured a motley crew of creepy punk tunes, including "The Crawling Eye," "Witch Hunt," "Die Monster Die," and "Pumpkinhead;" the beloved soundtrack to every Halloween ever since. The album – which makes titular reference to the horror/sci-fi magazine Famous Monsters of Filmland – was also the band's second post-Glenn Danzig LP following the departure of the inimitable frontman in 1983.
