"Through the Never” is a song from Metallica's eponymous album, commonly referred to as The Black Album. The band decided to work with producer Bob Rock after hearing his work on Mötley Crüe's Dr. Feelgood but after fighting through eight months of making their album, both the producer and the band swore they'd never work with each other again. Rock pushed them to write better lyrics, record together as a band instead of from their separate studios, and to do multiple takes until they got what he wanted. Adding to the stress was that three of the band members were going through divorces. But all that pressure created a diamond. The Black Album debuted at #1 in 10 countries and sold 16 million copies. Obviously, they decided to work together again.
