"King Nothing" is a song by Metallica from their sixth studio album Load. The song warns of the pitfalls of striving for power and fame. Vocalist James Hetfield directs his anger at an unnamed person, shouting, "Where's your crown, King Nothing." The song's structure is similar to one of the band's most popular songs, "Enter Sandman." Hetfield even sings "Off to never-never land" at the end as a nod to the lyrics of that song. “King Nothing” explores the theme of "be careful what you wish for" while subtlely shifting from accusatory to possibly self-reflection. The original title of the song when it was in demo form was “Load,” which became the name of the album. The song can be heard playing in the Bada Bing strip club in the second season of The Sopranos.
The backing track for "King Nothing" is available with background vocals or as an instrumental on Karaoke Version.
