Kelly Clarkson made Garth Brooks cry. That's usually not a good thing but his tears were from being moved by her beautiful rendition of his hit song, "The Dance." Clarkson performed a stripped-down version of the song during a segment honoring Brooks at the Kennedy Center Honors ceremony. Clarkson described the song as one that touched her deeply. She and her husband had gone through a recent divorce. She explained that she had been reading a lot of books about dealing with divorce, but the lyrics to Garth's 1990 CMA Song of the Year put things in perspective. "I'm glad I didn't know / The way it all would end, the way it all would go / Our lives are better left to chance / I could have missed the pain / But I'd have had to miss the dance."
