"Infinite Dreams" is the second track on Iron Maiden's seventh studio album, Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (1988). Written by bassist Steve Harris, the song is a harrowing tale about a person tortured by a series of paranormal visions and dreams. It features several tempo and rhythm changes, getting progressively heavier towards the end, as well as the band's trademark melodic guitar solos. Even though it wasn't released as one of the album's official singles, a live version was released on November 6, 1989, to promote Iron Maiden's live video, Maiden England. "Infinite Dreams" peaked at Number 6 in both the UK and Ireland, and it was later re-released as a split single with "The Clairvoyant" in 1990, reaching Number 11 in the UK charts. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, in turn, topped the UK Albums Chart and went to Number 12 on the Billboard 200. It was also one of their last singles to feature guitarist Adrian Smith, who left Iron Maiden in 1990 due to creative differences with the rest of the band.
