The Seatle rock band Heart covered "Tell It Like It Is" on their fifth studio album Bébé le Strange. The song, which was originally recorded by Aaron Neville, reached the #2 position on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It was kept out of the top spot by "I'm a Believer" by The Monkees. Neville told Rolling Stone magazine "A lot of people come up to me and say, 'That song got me and my wife together', and others say, 'It broke me and my wife up'". Heart's version features Ann Wilson on lead vocals. She is revered as one of rock's premier vocalists, one who is just as comfortable on hard-driving songs like "Barracuda" and "Crazy on You" as she is on a softer, soulful song like "Tell it Like It is".
