As the story goes, Frosty is a regular run-of-the-mill snowman who magically springs to life one day. He has been reincarnated in various guises over the years, with everyone from Nat King Cole to The Ronettes bringing Frosty back from his icy grave. However, Gene Autry was the first – and, as some would say, the best – to do it, breathing life into Frosty in 1950 for the definitive version of the Christmas classic written by Walter "Jack" Rollins and Steve Nelson. The self-proclaimed "Singing Cowboy" rode all the way to Number 7 on the US Pop Singles chart and Number 4 on the US Country Singles chart for his country-fried character sketch.
