The humorous and surreal suite "Don't Eat the Yellow Snow" was released in 1974 as part of Zappa's album Apostrophe ('). It consists of four distinct parts, which are also the first four tracks on the album: "Don't Eat the Yellow Snow," "Nanook Rubs It," "St. Alfonzo's Pancake Breakfast," and "Father O'Blivion." All of the four movements in the suite could be considered to be loosely related but not necessarily connected by a single overarching theme. Just like the rest of the album, all four songs were written and produced by Frank Zappa. Starting with a dream about becoming an Eskimo named Nanook, the song quickly develops into a full-blown hilarious extravaganza featuring fur trappers, priests, and a man performing all sorts of inappropriate antics at a church fundraiser. An edited version of "Don't Eat the Yellow Snow" was released as a single a few months after the album's release and became Frank Zappa's first entry on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at Number 86.
