"Here You Come Again" is a song by American country music artist Dolly Parton, included in her 1977 album of the same name. Written by the songwriting duo of Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, it was first meant to be Brenda Lee's big comeback hit, but the singer decided not to record it at the last minute. The song then made its way to Dolly Parton, becoming the first crossover pop hit of her career by topping Billboard's US Hot Country Singles chart for five weeks and peaking at Number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. At first, Dolly Parton thought the song sounded too poppy, so she requested producer Gary Klein to add a steel guitar part, which was finally recorded by legendary guitarist Al Perkins. Shortly after its release as a single, "Here You Come Again" earned Dolly Parton a Grammy award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance in 1978. It was also included in the compilations The Essential Dolly Parton (2005) and The Very Best of Dolly Parton (2007).
