In 1988, American glam metal band Dokken released their first live LP, Beast from the East. The album was recorded during the promotional tour of their fourth studio album, Back for the Attack (1987), and featured some of the group's biggest hits from their previous records. It also included a studio recording of a previously unreleased song titled "Walk Away." Written by frontman Don Dokken, lead guitarist George Lynch, and bass player Jeff Pilson, "Walk Away" is a power ballad about a conflictive relationship coming to an end. In a way, the song foreshadowed Dokken's breakup in 1989. It was released as Beast from the East's second promotional single and peaked at Number 48 on the US Mainstream Rock chart. An accompanying music video was released shortly after, featuring the members of the band performing atop the Santa Monica Mountains. In 1990, Beast from the East earned Dokken their only Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance at the Annual Grammy Awards.
