In the mid-1980s, American glam metal band Dokken reached their peak of popularity thanks to the albums Tooth and Nail (1984) and Under Lock and Key (1985), both of which fared quite well in the American charts and obtained Platinum certification by the RIAA. However, the group would experience even greater commercial success with their fourth studio LP Back for the Attack (1987), which stayed at Number 13 on the Billboard 200 for 33 weeks, becoming their highest-charting album yet. Back for the Attack contained some of Dokken's best-known singles, including the Nightmare on Elm Street tie-in "Dream Warriors," "Burning Like a Flame," and "Prisoner." It also featured the track "Kiss of Death," whose lyrics were inspired by the AIDS epidemic of the early 1980s. Driven forward by guitarist George Lynch's muscular guitar playing and lead singer Don Dokken's melodic vocal stylings, "Kiss of Death" remains a fan favorite and one of the band's signature songs.
