“From Out of Nowhere” is the opening track to Faith No More’s third studio album The Real Thing. It is the first album to feature vocalist Mike Patton. The previous vocalist Chuck Mosely was fired for his erratic behavior which included falling asleep on stage and punching bassist Billy Gould. With his charismatic stage presence and incredible vocal range, Patton was quite a find plus he wrote all the lyrics on The Real Thing which ended up being nominated for a Grammy. "From Out of Nowhere" is about being obsessed with someone or anything that controls your thoughts. There has been a bit of a rivalry between Faith No More and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis told the LA Times he felt Patton was stealing his moves. Next, Faith No More played a Halloween show dressed as the Chili Peppers and proceeded to play their songs badly and made fun of their past heroin use by pretending to shoot up on stage. The rivalry seems to have calmed down but for some fans, you've got to choose one or the other.
The backing track for "From Out of Nowhere" is available with background vocals or as an instrumental on Karaoke Version.
