"She Had Me at Heads Carolina" is a song by Cole Swindell from his fourth studio album, Stereotype. Swindell and fellow country artist Thomas Rhett had the idea of building a song around Jo Dee Messina's 1996 smash "Heads Carolina, Tails California," but first they needed to get approval from songwriters Tim Nichols and Mark Sanders. Once they got the OK, they called on Ashley Gorley and Jesse Frasure to help finish the song. Messina's hit is about tossing a coin to decide where she and her love should run off to. Swindell's version, which incorporates much of the original's melodic structure and instrumentation, is about falling for a karaoke singer who sang Messina's hit in a bar. "She's got the bar in the palm of her hand /, And she's a '90s country fan like I am."
The backing track for "She Had Me at Heads Carolina" is available with background vocals or as an instrumental on Karaoke Version.
