Celine wasn’t a fan of the song and she also was reluctant to record another big movie ballad after recently recording “Beauty and the Beast” and “Because You Loved Me”. James Cameron the film’s director was dead set against a big love ballad at the end of his film. Dion was finally persuaded to record a demo of the song by her husband Réne Angélil. Dion describes the recording process as an “Ok, let’s do this and get out of here” situation but her one-take performance left the room in tears. That late-night demo is the vocal take that has sold over eight million copies, won an Oscar, and four Grammys including Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best Pop Performance.
