Billy Joel donned a leather jacket and shifted to the dark side for his 1980 punk and new wave masterwork, Glass Houses, which literally opens with the smashing glass of "You May Be Right.” The bold, strutting rock song paints the portrait of a reckless guy who is initially unaware of how unhinged he is, until it starts to become apparent. "You may be right / I may be crazy / Hey, but it just may be a lunatic / You're looking for / Turn out the lights / Aww, don't try to save me / You may be wrong for all I know / But you may be right," he snarls in the chorus. Elsewhere on Billy Joel's rock album, tracks like "It's Still Rock and Roll to Me" (his first single to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart), "Don't Ask Me Why," and "Sometimes a Fantasy" build the bigger picture of a chameleonic popstar who took on a chance on hard rock—and it paid off. In 1981, Billy Joel won a Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance for Glass Houses.

mattothecat 10 years agoThis must be one of your "older" tracks because the guitars and the sax sound terrible.
