Alice in Chains may go straight for the jugular with the meaty guitar into of "We Die Young," but there's plenty of thought-provoking content submerged in this slab of beefcake heavy metal. "Scary's on the wall / Scary's on his way," roars Layne Staley, before adding: "Watch where you spit / I'd advise you wait until it's over / Then you got hit / And you should've known better," making a reference to youth gang violence which reaches its apex at the end of the song ("Another alley trip / Bullets seek the place to bend you over / Then you got hit / And you should've known better / Faster we run / And we die young"). The band's Jerry Cantrell was inspired to write this track after witnessing a number of children dealing drugs locally one day. Released in 1990 and engineered and co-produced by Dave Jerden, "We Die Young' is a song and single EP – and the first studio EP for Alice in Chains.

So great to see more Facelift stuff on here. You can really tell the band covering these truly cares and loves the source material. Exceptional attention to detail across the board.
