“Take On Me” is a song by the Norwegian pop group A-ha. The incredibly catchy new wave hit was one of the biggest songs of the Eighties. The band had a bit of trouble connecting with an audience. It seemed that industry people from record labels thought they were great but record sales were low. Things finally started to take off once the record label gave them money to replace their first basic performance music video with a new one directed by Steve Barron. The video was one of the most experimental videos of its time. It featured A-ha singer Morten Harket as a comic book hero who goes on a romantic adventure with a real-live woman played by his then-girlfriend Bunty Bailey. The video combined animation, pencil drawing, and live-action and won six MTV Video Awards.
